Banning Twitter

Banning Twitter

Last week Dancing With The Stars Australia judge Todd McKenney was twittering during the ad breaks about the show. What a great concept! It gives fans a chance to know what’s going on behind the scenes and how the judges really feel.

Todd said, ” I like the concept of making the show really interactive.” Not mention the fact that he can also get instant feedback from fans about what they think.

However, Channel 7 bosses have ordered him not to Twitter during the show. They could use a copy of The Grumpy Old Managers Guide to Social Media Marketing!

There are even sports stars who are twittering during their games. A Milwaukee Bucks player Twittered in the locker room at half time as did Shaquille O’Neal.

If Channel 7 were switched on to the concept of Social Media, they could be using it to their advantage and promoting Todd’s Twittering.

There was a lot of interest from the media about Channel 7’s banning. Imagine how much more interest they would have got if they were promoting and encouraging all the judges to Twitter, or even the celebrity dancers.

One of our clients Tatiana Grigorieva was on Dancing With The Stars a few years back and she wrote about a blog about her experiences. Fans loved that they got the chance to learn things before any one else and know what she thought of her performances. Imagine how great it would have been if she could have ran off stage after her performance and Twittered about it.

They just don’t get it!
